Our Lady of Good Hope
Catholic Church
Our Lady of Good Hope Church is one of the oldest Roman Catholic Churches.
It was built by Father Blanchet in 1873 and was the first permanent Catholic
mission north of Williams Lake. When you visit this church, which is used
for services every Saturday evening in the summer, you will see the cabin
where Father Morice printed prayer books and newspapers for the Carrier
people. Nearby, the graveyard has a number of stones inscribed in the
Carrier symbols devised by Father Morice. The church is located on Lakeshore
Drive, overlooking Stuart Lake.
